v1.2.0-beta

Tournament directors can mark competition days TBD and lock editing on tracks

Tournament directors no longer have to invent a date or venue they don't have yet, and can stop volunteers changing their answers once a day is staffed.

What's new

Dates and venues can be TBD

A tournament often exists before its venue is booked or its second day is scheduled. You can now say so instead of typing in a placeholder.

  • When creating a tournament or a track, tick Date not decided yet or Venue not decided yet, and it shows as TBD everywhere.
  • Leaving a date or venue blank is still an error. TBD has to be ticked on purpose.
  • A day with no date yet can't have shifts. Set the date first, then add them.

Closing a track to changes

Once you've staffed a day from people's answers, a volunteer quietly changing their availability can undo your planning. You can now lock a track.

  • On a locked track, volunteers can't change their availability, lunch, event preferences or whether they're coming — backing out included.
  • New tracks start locked. Turn member editing on when you're ready for it, or use Lock all tracks in tournament settings to close everything at once.
  • Volunteers still see everything they answered, with a note that the track is closed and to contact the tournament director.
  • Signup forms keep working on a locked track, so people can still sign up.

Improvements

  • Creating a tournament is now two steps: details first, then date and location.

Fixes

  • A pop-up window taller than your screen could hide its own title and buttons. It now scrolls with the page.
  • You can no longer clear a day's date while it still has shifts, which left those shifts attached to no date at all.
  • Tightened how your sign-in is protected against requests from other websites.

Worth knowing

  • Volunteers answer a track for the first time through its signup form. Editing your member profile is for changing an answer afterwards.
  • Tracks that already exist are not locked by this update. Only tracks created from now on start locked.
  • Locking a track doesn't stop signup forms. A form with questions about a locked track still records answers — unpublish the form as well if you want the track fully closed.
